Do you have to sit ALL THE TIME ?!

Sitting by itself is hard enough on your body to cause back pain all by itself.  Guess that means everybody that drives or uses a computer for work is doomed…

At least, that’s what most people think. The fact is tho – you can still fix it!  (and with OUT a gym!)

Anyways, are you familiar with ISOMETRICS ? Pronounced “eye-so-MET-ricks”, this is simply when you flex a muscle and nothing happens (like when you’re straining to open a stuck pickle jar). And you can use isometric exercise to fight low back pain.

You’re back pain is here probably because all that sitting has tightened your hip flexors and turned your butt muscles off. So now, when you stand up, you stick your butt out like a duck and that jacks up your back. To fix that when you’re standing, just flex your butt cheeks like you’re a dog trying to hide your tail and that’ll straighten out your back.

But when you’re sitting you can do the same thing. This will loosen your hip flexors and stabilize your back. All you gotta do is pretend you’re buckled (or, if you’re driving, just make sure you’re buckled…) and then push up against your seat belt! That means digging your heels into the floor and lifting your butt off the seat a little bit. Hold that for thirty seconds and do that about 5 to 10 times an hour.

P.S. – I was actually going to include a GIF for how to do a proper hip thruster to activate your glutes…but decided that (like many athletic movements) when you just boil it down to a 2 second video that loops, it’s kinda weird.  So instead I stole a completely appropriate video HERE that teaches how to do a proper glute bridge.  This is basically a “laying on the floor version” of what I’m trying to get you to do in your chair.

P.P.S. – If you’re curious about how flexing your but can help “stretch” or “relax” your hip flexors, it’s a thing called RECIPROCAL INHIBITION.  Basically, when you flex a muscle on one side of a bone, the one on the other side relaxes.  Like when you pull your arm upward with your biceps, then your triceps relaxes; or when you push with your triceps, then your biceps go floppy.  So next time you are stretching your hamstrings, try flexing your quads, shins, and abs – it’ll help relax your hamstrings, calves, and back muscles.

What is “Subluxation”?

The “Vertebral Subluxation Complex” is the only thing that chiropractors diagnose or treat. When you walk in complaining of back pain, or asthma, or infertility, or high blood pressure, or hormone problems…the chiropractor doesn’t really need to know that. While he...

Got 3 minutes to fix your back? Here’s the exercise > click this link to just cut to the chase! “What else can I do to help it?”  Probably the #1 question I get.  That’s usually a hard question for me to answer because my suggestion could be too much for one person...
