The “Vertebral Subluxation Complex” is the only thing that chiropractors diagnose or treat.
When you walk in complaining of back pain, or asthma, or infertility, or high blood pressure, or hormone problems…the chiropractor doesn’t really need to know that.
While he spent the same amount of time in school as your medical doctor did and learned many of the same concepts (check out the P.S. on this email), he is still mostly worried about subluxations in your spine that affect your nerves.
So what is the subluxation? It includes some or all of these 5 main parts:
Some irritation of the nerves themselves (neuropathology)
Some kind of bone restriction (spinal kinesiopathology)
Some kind of swelling or inflammation (histopathology)
Some measure of muscle spasm (myopathology)
Some changes in anatomy like bone spurs or arthritis (pathophysiology)
“But what’s that got to do with asthma?!”
Good question.
Imagine you’ve got these 5 things going on in your upper thoracic spine – where branches from the spinal cord extend to the lungs – how good do you think those nerves are working?
Probably not very good. But if they’re in charge of the lungs…how good can the lungs even work?
Probably not very good. But if the chiropractor helps the spine to work better – then how will the nerves work?
Probably better. And if the nerves are working better – then how will the lungs work?
Probably better. Just like I’ve seen it in Josh, Zane, and Melvin – people I’ve adjusted who no longer need their inhalers.
And it works for a lot more than just asthma…
